Privacy policy

Kaptcho is made and run by Svayam Incarnation Limited trading as SINC Developers ("SINC Developers", "we", "us"), a company registered in England and Wales, company number 15228262. Our registered office is 124 City Road, London, EC1V 2NX, England.

This policy explains what personal information Kaptcho and kaptcho.com handle. The short version: your video editing happens on your computer, we run no analytics or ads, and we never sell data.

Who is responsible

SINC Developers is the controller of the personal information described here. You can reach us at [email protected] or [email protected].

Your media and projects

Video editing and export happen on your computer. Kaptcho does not upload your media or projects anywhere unless you turn on Drive for a project. When you do, the project and the media it uses are stored in Kaptcho's own folder in your Drive on Viremail, under your account and your storage allowance. We do not look at them.

Signing in with Viremail

Kaptcho uses Sign in with Viremail. When you sign in, Viremail shares with Kaptcho a private ID, your name, your photo and your email address. Kaptcho uses these to show who is signed in and to check your subscription. Viremail's own privacy policy covers what Viremail does with your account.

Licence and device checks

To check your subscription and to apply the device rule (signed in on up to 2 computers, in use on 1 at a time), the app sends Viremail a random device ID, the name of the computer and its platform (macOS, Windows or Linux). The device ID is a random number made when you first open the app. It is not tied to your hardware.

What we do not do

• No analytics, tracking pixels or advertising.
• No selling or renting of personal data.
• No uploading of your videos, audio or images for any purpose of ours.

This website

kaptcho.com does not use tracking cookies. The only thing it stores in your browser is your theme choice (System, Light or Dark). See the cookies policy. Our hosting provider may keep ordinary server logs, such as IP address and page requested, for security and reliability.

Support emails

If you write to us, we keep your email and our replies so that we can answer you and follow up later. We use them for nothing else.

Why we use your information

We use account details and device information to provide the app and check your licence, which is necessary to perform our contract with you. We keep support emails because it is in our legitimate interest, and yours, to answer questions properly.

How long we keep it

Device records are kept while your subscription is active and are removed when you remove a device or your subscription ends and the record is no longer needed. Support emails are kept for as long as is needed to deal with your question and any follow-up.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you can ask to see, correct or delete the personal information we hold about you, object to how we use it, or ask us to restrict it. Email [email protected] and we will reply promptly. If you are unhappy with our answer, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we will update the date at the top and say so in the changelog.
