Kaptcho is built with the help of open-source software. We are grateful to the people who make it.

FFmpeg

Kaptcho uses FFmpeg to read, convert and export video and audio. FFmpeg is licensed under the GNU Lesser General Public Licence (LGPL) version 2.1 or later, and some builds include parts under the GNU General Public Licence (GPL).

The FFmpeg and FFprobe binaries are separate programs that ship beside the Kaptcho app. Kaptcho starts them as separate processes and talks to them through their command line. They are not linked into the app.

FFmpeg is a trademark of Fabrice Bellard, originator of the FFmpeg project.

Tauri

The desktop app is built on Tauri, which is licensed under the MIT and Apache 2.0 licences. See tauri.app.

React

The app's interface uses React, licensed under the MIT licence. See react.dev.

This website

kaptcho.com is built with Next.js and React (MIT licence) and uses the Geist typeface by Vercel, licensed under the SIL Open Font Licence 1.1.

Other components

The app also uses other open-source libraries written in Rust and JavaScript, for example for secure storage of sign-in tokens, file handling and networking. Each is used under its own licence, most often MIT, Apache 2.0 or BSD. A full list with licence texts is included with the app and available on request from [email protected].

Trademarks

Names and logos of other products and services belong to their owners and are used only to describe where you can send your video.
