Move a project to another computer

Copy the project file and its media, and Kaptcho relinks the rest.

Updated 8 October 2026

A Kaptcho project is a single .kaptcho file. It points to your media where it lives, rather than holding a copy.

Move it

  1. Copy the .kaptcho file and the folder with its media to the other computer, on a drive or through a cloud folder.
  2. Open the project there.
  3. If Kaptcho cannot find a file, right-click the clip and choose Find missing file, then Find it and pick the file. Kaptcho checks it is the same one.

Keep it simple

Keep each project's media in one folder next to the project file. Then moving the folder moves everything.

Working from a cloud folder

You can keep projects in a folder your computer syncs to the cloud. Let the sync finish before you open the project on another computer, and avoid editing it on two computers at once.
